In a Pedestrian Accident, Who is Going to Cover My Medical Bills?
Pedestrians and bicyclists are entitled to PIP coverage. To be entitled to PIP benefits, you must receive initial services and care within 14 days after the motor vehicle accident. PIP pays: 80 percent of reasonable medical expenses related to the accident, up to $10,000 in benefits. If you or a household relative member have PIP insurance, you will be covered under that policy. If you do not own a vehicle nor live with a relative that owns a vehicle, you will be covered by the PIP insurance of the at-fault driver who hit you.
